Third grade students are expected use correct keystrokes and key reaches for letter keys, the space bar, enter key, shift keys, backspace/delete key, and tab key, as well as punctuation keys. In addition they should be able to demonstrate the following correct keyboarding techniques:

- Sit up straight.
- Center body to the "h" key with elbows at sides.
- Place feet for balance.
- Curve fingers over the home keys.
- Keep wrists off the keyboard.
- Keep eyes on printed copy.
